The presentations from the house that sat down!

‘Surviving The House That Sat Down!’
‘Surviving the house that sat down’ is Alice May’s signature presentation. It is a positive and uplifting talk based on the events of three years ago when Alice’s house partially collapsed one day and she and her husband and 4 children were forced to move into a tent in the garden. They were on the verge of losing everything.
It was shocking! And yet it was not the end of the world. Amazing things can come from disaster.
As a direct result of what happened that day Alice is now happier than she has ever been before.
Using her own personal artwork as illustration, Alice’s signature talk gives a flavour of her inspiring journey from the ruins of her home to her life now as a writer, artist and public speaker.

Chasing Rainbows: The Power of Creativity to Heal
The world is an increasingly stressful place and it's important that we find ways to deal with the pressures of everyday life. Creative activities are hugely beneficial as stress-busters.
In this presentation Alice tells the story of her grandmother, Naomi, who was among the first cohort of patients in the UK to be treated using art as a therapy in the 1940s.
Using original artwork as illustration, Alice discussed some of the original art therapy theories and why creative activities are so beneficial for boosting resilience and building positive mental health.

Story Craft
As a part-time school librarian Alice enjoys running fun and relaxed school holiday clubs devoted to encouraging children to enjoy writing, illustrating and sharing their own stories.
